The Putnam Valley Town Board voted to authorize soliciting bids for the construction and installation of two dual-port zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) charging stations on the Town Hall campus at 265 Lake Road, to be funded by a ZEV grant awarded to the town.
Chair (Speaker 2) explained the chargers were originally planned for the site of the former sheriff’s building but were moved to Town Hall because demolition and planned sewer work at the original site would require repaving and rework. "We decided to relocate those chargers to town hall, which I think will be a good location for public use as well as for town employees," Speaker 2 said.
The resolution read into the record describes the work to be included in the bid: concrete footings, electric-meter installation, four concrete-filled steel bollards, and all electrical apparatuses required to meet local, state and federal permitting requirements. The board approved going out to bid; the transcript records acceptance of the motion but does not include a roll-call vote tally.
Why it matters: The chargers are funded through a grant awarded last year and will expand public charging access in town, while the relocation avoids interrupting future sewer-pump-station construction at the originally proposed site.
What the record shows: The board directed staff to solicit bids and proceed with the procurement process; detailed vendor selection, schedule and contract awards were not included in the meeting record.
