Commissioners review fire-district ambulance agreement proposal and Gold Cross billing recommendation

Commissioners received two related public-safety items April 13: a proposed agreement with the Franklin County Fire District to house ambulances at fire stations, and a billing recommendation from Gold Cross Ambulance billing staff.
Commissioner Zan Bowles reported that Ethan Rawlings drafted a proposal between the Franklin County Fire District and the Ambulance Association to place ambulances at Fire Station #3 in Franklin and Fire Station #2 in Dayton. County Attorney Vic Pearson reviewed the draft; commissioners said the arrangement would benefit the community and placed the item on the next agenda as an action item.
On billing, Bowles described a virtual meeting with Tyler Peterson, vice president of billing services at Gold Cross, who recommended the county apply any county discount to residents’ ambulance bills after an insurer has paid its portion of a run. Bowles and Commissioner Chair Robert Swainston expressed support for pursuing the recommendation; the board plans to consider a formal policy or ordinance on a future agenda.
