Hilbert fire department commits $29,000 toward new truck; $20,000 deposited with village

At the Nov. 12 meeting Chief Mike Loose updated the board on Fire Department matters and said the department is committed to contributing $29,000 toward a new fire truck. He told trustees the department has already given the village $20,000 to deposit into the village bank account to earn interest until the funds are needed.
Resident Mark Fochs raised concern that the $20,000 check the department had presented at a prior meeting had not been discussed; President Tom Roehrig told Fochs the matter would be addressed later in the meeting. Chief Loose also asked that staff publish a notice in the Voice of the Village indicating the department had paid $20,000 of its share. No formal board action was taken on the vehicle funding during the meeting.
Separately, President Roehrig reported the village received a $1,500 donation from the Hilbert Athletic Association to be used for ballfield expenses.
