The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors met Dec. 3, 2024. Chairman Mike Helman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and added two items to New Business: "ARPA Funds under Maintenance" and "Zoom vs Teams," before the board approved the agenda on a motion by Supervisor Ryan Nelson seconded by Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen; the motion carried 4-0.
Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen told the board staff were compiling items for the township's CPA to complete the audit and said she hopes the CPA can finish within "the next couple of weeks." Paumen said she had made corrections to 11 parcels and submitted Fire Assessments to the county. She warned that federal tax payments now "need to be paid semi-monthly due to paying in over $50,000 throughout the last 4 quarters."
On routine business, Nelson moved to approve the Nov. 26, 2024 meeting minutes; Geyen seconded and the board carried the motion 4-0. Geyen then moved to approve the list of disbursements; Nelson seconded and that motion also passed 4-0.
Maintenance updates covered operational tasks and near-term scheduling. Maintenance staff reported that two employees will attend snowplow training next week and that those interested in serving as backup snowplow drivers should submit applications. The 134th culvert replacement was postponed until spring because of weather. The township's 2003 Chevy pickup is currently listed for auction.
Under New Business supervisors said they are waiting for responses about extending township cooperative agreements and will move forward if other parties agree. Employee job descriptions were distributed to supervisors for review and are scheduled to be updated at the next meeting; employee insurance will also be discussed at the next meeting. On meeting platforms, supervisors said they "are in agreeance that we should keep utilizing Teams and make sure Zoom subscriptions are cancelled."
The board closed the meeting for an employee review (executive session). After the executive session, Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen moved to adjourn and Supervisor Ryan Nelson seconded.
The meeting record shows routine administrative and operational items addressed and sets follow-up on job-description updates and employee insurance for the next meeting. No ordinances or binding policy changes were adopted during this session.
