Library director seeks volunteers as fall programs draw strong attendance

Director Morgan Olson told the Unicoi County Public Library Board on Sept. 26 that the library needs more volunteers to support upcoming Apple Festival fundraising activities, particularly to help with parking.
Olson said staff have received some responses but more help is needed to staff festival shifts. She also reported strong participation in recent homeschool programming, noting about 90 people attended a session on Sept. 18. "Programs are going great and October is shaping up to be a very busy month," Olson told the board, citing pumpkin painting, a Spooktacular event, Downtown Erwin Halloween Movie Night, and a teen Halloween party, and that storytimes have resumed for all ages.
Olson and President Cathy Griffith also reported attending the annual Trustee Workshop in Jefferson City and said staff are making plans for upcoming training opportunities. Holston River Regional Library Director Jennifer Breuer reminded the board of several regional trainings in October and November and said UCPL's Maintenance of Effort documentation has been approved.
