Council authorizes legacy grant application for expanded environmental education

City staff presented a plan July 13 to pursue legacy funding for an environmental education program after an earlier LCCMR application went unfunded.
Luke told the council the city’s LCCMR proposal did not receive funding in March and recommended applying to the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks & Trails Commission (which administers state legacy funds) for a two‑year project. "We're requesting 2 years from them, and we're approaching the county for a 20% match on that as well," Luke said. The council approved a resolution authorizing the application.
The resolution authorizes staff to apply for the legacy funds; the council did not specify grant dollar amounts or county match totals during the meeting. Staff indicated the county match would be pursued as part of the application process.
