Mayor and council honor retiring Police Chief Dave McKeon; new officers and library hire introduced

Mayor Stephen King led a recognition for Police Chief Dave McKeon on July 13, presenting a plaque noting McKeon’s service from 12/01/1997 to 06/20/2026 and awarding him a key to the city.
"There's not a better person that I could have relied upon ... his efforts what he gave to the citizens of the city," Mayor Stephen King said while introducing the presentation. Chief McKeon responded, "I'm super appreciating my time with the city. Everyone in the police department has been great... It's been fantastic to work with you guys all these years."
Council also heard introductions of new public-safety and library staff. Chief Hartman introduced two newly hired officers — Michael Hanson and Mike Richardson — describing the department’s cadet-to-officer pathway and noting one officer comes from a CSO cadet program and another brings prior experience. Library representative Julie introduced Stacy Waltman as the city’s new youth services librarian and said Waltman began her first day that day.
The council’s recognitions and staff introductions were presented as ceremonial items and no formal votes were required. The presentations emphasized continuity in public-safety staffing and recent investments in library youth services.
