Holland board approves $985,? in designated reserves for 2026, appoints election inspectors and OKs fire department purchase

At its Dec. 8 meeting, the Holland Town Board approved multiple designated reserve funds for 2026 and completed several routine administrative actions, including appointing election inspectors and authorizing a small equipment purchase for the local volunteer fire department.
By unanimous roll call, the board established the following designated reserves for 2026: $118,647.79 for public safety; elimination of a $13,000 designated reserve for future assessment services with that $13,000 applied to current assessment revaluation expenditures; $78,944.16 for Town Hall improvements; $410,086.27 for transportation; and $377,531.50 for broadband improvements. The motion to fund the reserves was made by Supervisor Gordon Seegert and seconded by Supervisor Douglas Hamilton; the roll call recorded Seegert, Hamilton and Chair David Huenink voting Yes.
The board also appointed 22 election inspectors to two‑year terms from Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2027, by motion of Seegert and second of Huenink. The list of appointed inspectors was included in the meeting packet.
Under public‑safety items, the board authorized payment of $9,973.80 to purchase a pickup truck for the Oostburg Fire Department after a motion by Hamilton and second by Seegert; that motion carried by unanimous voice vote. A roads report from Director of Public Works and Property Nate Voskuil was provided in the packet; Supervisor Seegert reported culvert replacements on Cedar Court and Hoftiezer Road are complete, and Chair Huenink said a road betterment project on Stokdyk Ingelse Road may be delayed pending permitting from WE Energies.
Clerk‑Treasurer Janelle Kaiser told the board that 2025 real estate property tax bills will be mailed on or before Dec. 15, 2025 and that the town website has been updated to meet Federal Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
The meeting concluded with routine correspondence and adjournment at 8:14 p.m.
