Hustisford board approves routine expenditures, hears Dodge County sheriff on contract options

The Hustisford Town Board on Jan. 8 approved routine minutes, several budget and equipment purchases, and the payment of $705,374.62 in bills, and received a presentation from the Dodge County Sheriff on possible contract options, with no decision taken.
Chairman Dave Margelofsky called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Clerk Agnes Schultz confirmed the agenda had been posted according to state statute.
Supervisor Phillip Dahnert moved and Supervisor Alvin Hildebrandt seconded a motion to approve the meeting minutes as presented; the motion carried. The board then accepted the Treasurer’s Report on a motion by Hildebrandt, seconded by Dahnert; the report showed $5,818.30 in the General Fund and $1,227,431.84 in the NOW Account.
Sheriff Dale Schmidt presented preliminary options for the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department to contract with the Town of Hustisford; the presentation was for discussion only and the board made no decision on a contract.
The board approved several consent items and purchases. On motions moved by Phillip Dahnert and seconded by Alvin Hildebrandt the board approved the Country Vet Stray Dog Agreement for 2026 in the amount of $86.00; authorized Town Board attendance at the WTA District Meeting on March 14, 2026, at Old Hickory in Beaver Dam and at the WTA Convention Oct. 4–6, 2026, at the Holiday Inn in Stevens Point; approved the purchase of an MS 261 chainsaw from Proven Power; and approved an estimate from Roeseler Flooring for work at the Town Hall. The board also approved a $150.00 donation to Hustisford High School Post Prom.
In reports, the Village and Town of Hustisford will meet to discuss library funding and overhead. The 2026 recreation budget and the 2026 fire department budget were noted as approved. The fire department reported training that included live fire exercises, approval of a binder lift, and upcoming ice rescue training; it recorded 117 fire calls and 153 EMS calls in 2025 and scheduled its annual meeting for Jan. 31, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Hall.
On a motion by Alvin Hildebrandt, seconded by Phillip Dahnert, the board approved payment of bills totaling $705,374.62. The board then voted to adjourn; the meeting ended at 9:03 p.m.
