The Town of Hustisford approved a $1,104,900 budget for 2026 and set an allowable levy of $705,586 at a special town meeting following a Nov. 25 budget hearing. The vote was recorded by voice as 10 yeas and 0 nays.
The budget hearing opened at 7:30 p.m. with Chairman Dave Margelofsky calling the meeting to order and Treasurer Allen Hackbarth presenting the proposed 2026 budget and line items for board and public review. During the presentation, resident Joe Sharp questioned line item 65, asking how the $2,000 figure for the Rock River Hydrology Study was determined. Chairman Dave Margelofsky said the Rock River Hydrology Study "will be on the December agenda to discuss and make a decision as to what the Town of Hustisford is going to do moving forward." Resident Shane Kaemmerer also asked whether some areas could receive three roadside cuttings instead of two; the chairman said the board would need to review options.
With no further questions, Committee member Sandy Margelofsky moved to adjourn the budget hearing; Committee member Dan Reinhardt seconded and the hearing was adjourned at 7:42 p.m. The board immediately opened a special town meeting at 7:42 p.m. to consider adoption of the 2026 budget. Sandy Margelofsky moved to approve the budget of $1,104,900 and the allowable levy of $705,586; Michele Dahnert seconded. The motion carried by voice vote, recorded as 10 yeas and 0 nays.
Committee member Tanya Lemke subsequently moved to place funds in the general fund and to pay all bills from that fund; Carol Reinhardt seconded and the motion carried. The special town meeting was then adjourned; the minutes record adjournment at 7:47 p.m. The meeting minutes were submitted by Clerk Agnes Schultz.
The board did not decide on funding or details for the Rock River Hydrology Study during the Nov. 25 session; Chairman Margelofsky scheduled that subject for the December agenda for further discussion and a decision. The roadside-cutting request likewise was left for the board to consider as part of future options or agenda items.
