Board approves $69,032 contract for Auto Title counter and window upgrades

The Richland County Board of Commissioners approved a contract on July 25 to renovate the Auto Title transaction area, including replacement of bullet-resistant windows, installation of plastic-laminate countertops, relocation of a few transaction windows and associated glazing work. Brad Maurer, an architect with Mad Studio, described the scope and estimated the contract amount at about $69,032.
Grace Rouse, project manager with Adena Corporation, said the contractor would subcontract glass and casework and that fabrication and scheduling would drive the timeline; she estimated a four-week fabrication window and an overall project completion of roughly 10 to 12 weeks. "Once contract is signed, we will subcontract out the subs for the glass and the casework ... I think that's going to be 6 weeks or so before we can have those fabricated ... it would be done within, I believe, 10 to 12 weeks," Rouse said.
Calvin Hoffman, deputy at Auto Title, joined the introductions and the board voted to approve the contract after a motion, with funding described as the contract price and timeline unchanged. Commissioners asked a few clarifying questions about the price and schedule before the vote. The project is intended to update the public-facing counter area and restore secure transaction windows.
The contractor and project manager will coordinate procurement of glazing and casework and provide the county with scheduling updates as the project proceeds.
