Ironton board hears road and Pickel Road bridge updates; salt shed and town website plans discussed

Patrolman Nick Fry told the Town of Ironton board on July 14 that crews replaced tubing on Petit Road — installing a 24-inch tube after a 36-inch tube required extra work to remove from a box culvert — and that additional soft spots required deeper excavation and final grading. Fry said an undercut is scheduled to begin the week of July 21.
Fry also reported that full wedging on Elwood Road is complete, that Templin Road needs an asphalt patch, that crews continue cold-patch repairs, that multiple trees have fallen across roads in recent heavy rains and winds, and that the second mowing of the season has begun.
On the Pickel Road bridge west end, Chair Jerry White reported that Fred Gruber has reached an agreement with the landowner for Parcel #1; efforts to obtain Parcels #2 and #3 are ongoing. The board identified Cemetery Road (noted that contractor Gasser planned to begin work the week of July 14), Bible Road and Lincoln Hill for further inspection and potential work.
Jason Sammons said Hartje Lumber is reluctant to draw plans for the town’s proposed salt shed unless they are also awarded the construction bid; he will continue discussions with Hartje Lumber. The board also approved a motion by Jerry White, seconded by Jason Sammons, to work with Josh Myers of Eau Claire to create a town website; Clerk Diane Reinfeldt will contact Myers for next steps.
Board members listed items for the Aug. 11 meeting, including the Pickel Road bridge, road updates, sand/salt shed update, website update and patrolman health insurance. The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
