Oakfield board elects and swears in new officers in reorganizational meeting

The Oakfield Board of Education held a reorganizational meeting in which members nominated and elected leadership, then administered the oath of office to the incoming officers.

During roll call the board solicited nominations and, after a motion and second, approved the nominated candidate for president by voice vote. Moderator (S2) led the oath, reciting, “I do solemnly swear that I will support the constitution of the United States and the constitution of the state of New York, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of office of school board member according to the best of my ability.” The motion to elect the president passed with 'Aye' votes recorded and no opposition noted on the record.

The board then sought nominations for vice president. A nomination for Justin Snell was placed on the record, seconded and approved by voice vote. The vice president also recited the same oath administered by the Moderator.

Following the elections the board moved to appoint the treasurer and auditor; that motion was seconded and passed without discussion. Several other routine organizational motions were approved by voice vote as the meeting progressed. The board later voted to enter executive session at 07:00 to discuss collective bargaining and contract negotiations with the employee TA, a procedural step described and moved on the record.
