County Attorney Kathryn Sellars presented a Consent and Limited Waiver for HPWC related to the Wiggins Rural Fire Protection District at the Feb. 25 meeting, describing expired storage-and-use agreements between the county and the district and proposing a waiver to permit drafting replacement intergovernmental agreements.
Sellars said both the county and the district have previously used reciprocal storage and facility-use arrangements, and that the waiver follows past practice to allow joint drafting; she said if the parties cannot reach agreement the waiver permits each to retain separate counsel. Commissioner Tim Malone asked whether the building in question is owned by the Wiggins Fire District; Sellars said it is. Commissioners noted their positive working history with Wiggins Fire and Ambulance officials.
Commissioner Malone moved to approve the Consent and Limited Waiver for HPWC concerning Wiggins Rural Fire Protection District; Commissioner Kelvin Bernhardt seconded and the motion carried 3–0. During closing reports Emergency Manager Roger Doll said a March 6, 2025 weather storm class is canceled and commissioners reviewed Road and Bridge weekly reports and the county calendar; the meeting adjourned at 9:17 a.m.
