Morgan County Human Services approves January warrants and benefit authorizations totaling $1.45 million

Morgan County’s Department of Human Services reported January 2025 financials and received Board approval on March 18, 2025. Accounting Manager Susan Nitzel presented operating warrants of $333,179.44 and payroll direct deposits of $225,853.21 for a warrants total of $559,032.65; she said that from December to January there was a decrease of about $15,000, primarily attributable to program cost shifts and the county interfund not being received.
Nitzel also presented the Certification of Provider and Vendor Benefit Authorizations for January 2025 with a monthly total of $895,203.76, noting a roughly $500 decrease from December and a year‑over‑year increase of about $9,700 driven by higher food stamp spending and decreases in child care and core services. Commissioner Malone moved to approve both the warrants and the certification; motions carried 3‑0.
Morgan County Human Services Director Jacque Frenier told the Board that April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness week and that the office will hold daily 'spirit days' during the observance.
The minutes of the Department of Human Services meeting dated Feb. 25, 2025 were also approved earlier in the session.
