The De Pere Historic Preservation Commission reported June 22 that a new historic-district kiosk sign for the De Pere Lock and Dam Historic District has been installed on the Riverwalk, near the lock keeper's cabin, and is publicly accessible.
Commission member Gene said the sign "is there. It's in place," and that "it was approved by the DNR and the Fox Wisconsin Heritage Parkway and it's in great shape." He offered to provide photos of the installation to the Commission or the city for use in meeting records and public outreach.
Commissioners noted the sign's design follows the city's other historic-district signage, with a brown background and the city logo on the left, so it aligns visually with existing district markers. The Commission discussed making the sign's materials available to staff so they can be included on the city's website and in meeting minutes; Gene said he would pass a link and images to the clerk for inclusion.
No formal action was required or taken on the sign during the meeting. Commissioners also discussed inviting members of the city's Youth Commission to visit the Lock and Dam site as part of outreach and education tied to the district listing.
