Jefferson council approves two full-time wastewater/water operator hires

The council moved into closed session under Wisconsin Statutes §19.85(1)(c) to consider employment matters and subsequently returned to open session to vote on the hires. Resolution No. 79 authorized hiring Anthony Riedl to fill a wastewater plant operator vacancy that had existed since spring 2024. The resolution specifies the hire is subject to a successful pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol screening, sets a starting salary of $26.92 per hour at Classification Seven, Step 1, and grants five days of paid time off. Ald. Schroeder moved approval and Ald. Teeter seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 80 authorized hiring Matthew Zenoni to fill a wastewater plant operator vacancy identified as vacant since October 2024, with identical conditional requirements, starting salary and PTO as Resolution No. 79. Ald. Neils introduced the resolution; Ald. Mattke seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Council minutes record the hire approvals as unanimous roll call votes. The hires are intended to fill continuing vacancies in the water/wastewater utility staff; implementation is subject to the specified pre-employment checks.
