Committee approves grants, lab purchase, brownfield abolishment and other routine items

• Brownfield plan abolishment: Development staff said remediation and redevelopment were complete at 26700 Wixom Road (The Villas at Philbrook); duplexes were built and the abolishment indicates the plan’s activities were accomplished. The committee voted to abolish the plan.
• Forensic lab instrument: The sheriff’s forensic laboratory requested use of $500,000 from a restricted forensic‑lab enhancement fund to purchase an LC‑MS/MS system to enable on‑site blood toxicology and drug testing. Staff said the capability will shorten turnaround times and reduce outside confirmation testing; the motion carried.
• CDBG revolving loan and program income: Neighborhood and housing staff explained how program income from paid‑off home‑improvement loans will be recycled to provide new loans to income‑eligible residents; the committee accepted the funds.
• 340B drug pricing revenue: Health division staff explained the county has separated 340B revenue from a local comprehensive agreement to capture more cost savings; the revenue will support three existing positions in HIV, PrEP and hepatitis C programs (positions already staffed). Staff estimated the program could generate up to $700,000 as it grows.
• Child care fund budget: Court administration presented the FY27 child care fund budget for submission to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services; state reimbursement rules (50%/75%) were cited and the submission was recorded.
Each of the above motions passed on committee votes as recorded in the meeting minutes; staff will follow with any contract awards, procurement steps or budget amendments as needed.
