Boaz board reviews park maintenance, building-inspection options and drafts ATV ordinance

The Village of Boaz Board of Trustees reviewed several maintenance and code-enforcement items on June 9: park maintenance needs, a proposed bridge repair, and options for building-inspection coverage for the village.
Park and infrastructure: the board accepted an estimate from Can-am Construction to repair a walk bridge in the park and directed the work to begin. Park maintenance items still needing attention include a drainage trench near the ball diamond, removal of remaining climbing equipment, replacement of a picnic table with a memorial bench for Robert Drogsvold, camera installation when weather allows, repairing and numbering picnic tables, and painting shelters and signs. The minutes also note that a couple of picnic tables need repair and that all park tables should be numbered.
Building inspection and nuisance matters: Michael Reuter of Wisconsin Municipal Building Inspections submitted a rehabilitation plan and checklist for a dilapidated dwelling on Main Street; those documents were forwarded to the Clerk’s office for follow-up. Clerk/Treasurer Kaela Townsend reported that she has contacted GEC of Portage for a final contract to serve as the Unified Dwelling Code Inspector for Boaz but had not yet received a reply; Reuter may be willing to continue as the village’s inspector.
Ordinance drafting: Attorney Eric Hagen is drafting an ordinance to restrict ATV and UTV use to park parking lots, with an explicit carve-out for Boaz Fun Daze; Townsend will inquire about whether the village should collect a fee for Fun Daze. The board also deferred a driveway ordinance until Ambulance/EMS of Richland County makes a related decision.
Administrative note: a previously filed public-nuisance complaint on Main Street was recorded as withdrawn.
