Summary

City staff told Twinsburg City Council on June 23 they plan to reallocate capital funding to address two pressing maintenance needs: replacement of windows at Fire Station 2 and expanded salt storage capacity.
“So the window cost is $40,800,” the department head said, adding that the city will defer a budgeted vehicle and reassign the budgeted leaf‑machine funds (the leaf machine was budgeted at $185,000) toward the window replacement and a new or larger salt facility. The salt storage project was described as roughly estimated at $180,000; staff said the project will be bid and brought back to council after the summer recess.
Staff told council the windows were not originally budgeted and that the service director recommended deferring the new vehicle to free funds. The department indicated the window purchase may be eligible for reimbursement through NOPEC (Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council).
Council asked procedural questions about facility portability (the salt facility design could be moved to a future service garage if built) and confirmed the intent is to preserve an existing salt allocation rather than risk higher market prices later. No formal appropriation or contract award occurred at the June 23 meeting; the item was presented as a notice of the planned change and a solicitation/bid is expected to follow.
