A resolution to formalize financial authority in the Finance Department was introduced at the work session on Wednesday and is scheduled for action during the council's regular meeting.
"So here, we're talking about a resolution, which essentially is appoint me as the, director of finance and also in charge of your financial institution accounts, like your bank accounts and things like that," said Stuart Acobia, who identified himself as the city's director of finance. Acobia said the resolution also names Joy Manueler as deputy director of finance and Charmaine Peck as treasurer.
Acobia described the measure as a housekeeping step to ensure account controls, reconciliations and appropriate oversight. Council members expressed support and indicated they were ready to finalize the appointment at the regular meeting.
