Two cannabis businesses report progress; one reports it is already open

A representative for the dispensary that identified itself as having a soft opening said the store held a soft opening and a subsequent grand opening and reported hiring targets focused on local residents: “We are 80% Bourne residents, 65% women,” the representative said. Michael Cunningham (speaker 13), speaking for another operator, said his team completed community outreach, obtained an HCA in January, attended Board of Health and planning board hearings, secured architectural plans and anticipates construction through late 2026 with a goal of April 2027 for provisional license steps and inspections. Mike Allen, CEO of Chief Cannabis (speaker 16), said his company completed a first cannabis-control commission inspection and expects to seek final licensing at an upcoming July 9 agenda, targeting an August opening if inspections conclude successfully.
Board members asked about hours of operation and hiring plans; one operator said hours would be 8 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 8 a.m.–6 p.m. on Sundays. Members thanked the applicants for local hiring efforts and noted the town will follow normal licensing inspections and reporting requirements.
