Council adopts 2026 budget, affirms wage increases and approves $1.98M in vouchers

City Treasurer Miller told the council the 2026 budget had a change since the Nov. 13 budget hearing: the assessor’s budget decreased to $25,000 and $10,000 was moved to contingency with approval from the city administrator and mayor. Alderperson Burkhalter moved to accept Resolution 2025-032 adopting the 2026 budget and the motion carried with all ayes.
Mayor Simpson noted the 2026 wage increases had been approved at the prior Thursday meeting (Nov. 13) and would remain as presented. The voucher report for October showed BID checks totaling $1,939.28, ACH payments of $647,359.06, general checks $1,327,797.55 and credit-card purchases of $1,110.15, for a grand total of $1,978,206.04; Baxter moved to approve the voucher report and the motion carried.
Alderperson Gritzmaker asked about a sewer interface bill; Mayor Simpson said the charge was for a UV light used to disinfect water at the sewer treatment plant. Council took the financial approvals by recorded motions and unanimous 'ayes.'
