Otsego heritage panel approves 1914 barn materials, seals time capsule and schedules fire‑station tour

At its May 19 special meeting, the Otsego Heritage Preservation Commission approved a write-up and selected photos for a 1914 Barn poster, finalized and sealed a city time capsule, and set a June 10 tour of the fire station display; the commission also approved the agenda and April minutes.
Chair Kelly Kiffmeyer convened the Otsego Heritage Preservation Commission at 7:03 p.m. on May 19, 2026, and the panel approved the meeting agenda and the April 14, 2026 minutes by unanimous voice votes.
The commission reviewed and approved a write-up for the city’s 1914 Barn and selected five photographs to include on a promotional poster. Commissioner Toni Seroshek printed photos for the review; Chair Kelly Kiffmeyer agreed to send a digital version of the write-up and Seroshek committed to sending JPG files to Dan Licht.
Commissioners assembled content for a community time capsule during the meeting. Commissioner Seroshek presented developed photographs of city landmarks and Commissioner Brooke Nault contributed photographs from a fall 2025 cemetery tour. The commission arranged, photographed and videotaped the capsule contents and sealed the time capsule at the meeting.
The group discussed a planned walk‑through of the fire station display and history highlights; the walk‑through scheduled for the same evening was canceled because of wet pavement. Commissioners agreed to a rescheduled tour on June 10 at 6:00 p.m. and discussed holding the regular OHPC meeting after that tour. Chair Kiffmeyer said she would contact Audra or Katie to coordinate scheduling.
Kiffmeyer reported outreach to the Holt family about potential photo donations; the commission is awaiting the family’s response. The commission also noted that SOAR will partner on the 2026 fall cemetery tour and that Commissioner Nault will forward photos or time‑capsule materials to the SOAR contact, Heidi.
The commission set its next meeting for June 10, 2026. Commissioner Toni Seroshek moved to adjourn at 8:02 p.m.; Commissioner Chris Wilson seconded and the meeting ended by unanimous voice vote.
