Cedartown commission approves appointments, lease, traffic changes and PTSD coverage; zoning request tabled

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Cedartown City Commission unanimously approved leadership appointments, minutes, a municipal judge and solicitor, a lease for One Door Polk, four-way stop signs at W Girard & Cave Spring, and a resolution to add PTSD coverage via GIRMA; the Davis Road PD-1 zoning request was tabled.

The Cedartown City Commission voted unanimously on a series of routine and policy items during its Jan. 13 meeting.
By unanimous votes the Commission: approved minutes from previous meetings; appointed Sam Branch as Chairman and Matt Foster as Pro-Tem for 2025; approved Benjamin Burch as Municipal Court Judge and Carey Pilgrim as Solicitor for 2025; approved a lease with Speech and Language of Northwest Georgia for space at One Door Polk; and approved installation of four-way stop signs with red flashing signals at W Girard Avenue and Cave Spring Street to be placed Jan. 21, 2025.
The Commission also approved Resolution #1, 2025, to add PTSD insurance coverage for public safety members through GIRMA. All recorded motions passed with "Aye" votes and no recorded "No" votes.
On a separate matter, the Commission tabled a major PD-1 zoning request for property on Davis Road pending revised site plans that show an additional entrance/exit and other adjustments; that item will return when the developer submits new plans.
