Acting Town Manager John Sousa listed agenda items the board intends to raise with the delegation: the status of H.5429, ‘‘An Act providing injured‑on‑duty compensation to Chelmsford Firefighter Nicholas Spinale,’’ a request to maintain funding for the Jail Diversion Program (adult mental‑health clinicians who assist police with crisis de‑escalation), and items included in the governor’s Municipal Empowerment Act. Chair Patricia Wojtas invited board members to forward additional items to the Acting Town Manager for inclusion.
Town staff also noted that the Joint Committee on Public Service will hold a hearing on H.5429 on June 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and that written testimony may be submitted by June 12 at 5:00 p.m. Chair Wojtas signed up to present oral testimony at the hearing and invited other interested participants to do so.
The board also reviewed preliminary FY2027 Cherry Sheet estimates from the Senate Ways and Means office as part of the Town Manager’s report. No formal action was recorded on the delegation priorities during the meeting; the items were prepared for discussion at the June 15 Select Board meeting.
