Select Board approves National Grid pole installations, school and municipal contracts; appointment made

Utility poles: National Grid representative Vaz Eng presented four petitions to install poles at 228 Billerica Road (P64‑50), 330 Billerica Road (P92‑50), 20 Robin Hill Road (P6‑84) and 1‑3 Doris Drive (P82‑2). Vice Chair Jeffrey Hardy moved to approve each petition; Clerk David Boisvert seconded and each motion passed 5‑0.
Licenses and hearings: The board granted a one‑day all‑alcohol license to the American Legion Alberton W. Vinal Post #313 for a June 13 block party at 90 Groton Road. The Select Board continued the public hearing on a change of manager and ownership interests for the all‑alcohol license of Pressed Café (330 Billerica Rd.) to June 29, 2026 at the applicant’s request.
Bid awards and procurement: Acting Town Manager John Sousa presented bid results. The board approved Byam School improvements to Sunshine Paving Corporation for $671,318.80; approved a roof replacement contract to WPI Construction, Inc. for $434,890 for the DPW and School Administration buildings; and approved a one‑year cleaning‑services contract for town facilities to Pro City Facility Services, Inc. for $45,710. All motions passed 5‑0.
Appointments and minutes: The board appointed Rachel Ford to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for a three‑year term expiring June 30, 2029. The Select Board also approved the May 18, 2026 meeting minutes. The meeting adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
