Brodhead council hires DPW worker, approves assessor and EMS agreements after closed session
Summary
After a closed session Nov. 13, the Brodhead Common Council offered a DPW job, approved an EMS contract, and appointed Paul Musser as city assessor; two motions recorded single abstentions on record votes.
The Brodhead Common Council moved into closed session Nov. 13 and, on returning to open session, took several personnel and contract actions.
The council offered Barry Diffenderfer a full-time Department of Public Works position at $23 per hour with benefits, pending a police background check and a drug screening. The motion was made by Alderperson Gritzmaker and seconded by Alderperson Naramore and passed unanimously.
The council accepted the Emergency Medical Services agreement "as presented." That motion, made by Alderperson Burkhalter and seconded by Naramore, passed on a unanimous vote.
The council also voted to appoint Paul Musser of Musser Appraisals as City Assessor and accepted his contract. Baxter moved the appointment and Burkhalter seconded. The roll-call tally listed Woodford, Burkhalter, Naramore, Baxter and Gritzmaker as voting yes; Alderperson Sauer recorded an abstention. The motion carried.
Finally, the council approved resolution 2025-033 affecting non-represented employees after a motion by Gritzmaker and a second by Burkhalter; Woodford, Sauer, Burkhalter, Naramore and Gritzmaker voted yes and Baxter abstained.
All formal votes taken after the closed session were recorded by roll call. The meeting adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
Notes: The Diffenderfer hire is contingent on clearance items specified by the council; the assessor appointment was approved with one abstention and the non-represented employee resolution carried with a single abstention.
