Superintendent highlights First Five turnout, bond outreach and a stalled partnership proposal

The superintendent said the First Five parent meeting drew strong attendance and that staff had capacity to expand the program if demand requires. The district will use the upcoming state-of-the-district event to give community members a bus tour comparing Ferndale Lower and other buildings to illustrate bond project needs and expected outcomes.
The superintendent said the district is monitoring federal executive orders and developments related to the U.S. Department of Education and is preparing FAQs to explain potential local impacts. She also reported that talks with Drayton Cooper about a space-sharing partnership have been productive but that a recent conversation suggested the partnership is not feasible at this time; the district said it would keep communication lines open.
Board members praised staff events and restorative-practices training and noted upcoming robotics competitions to be hosted at Ferndale High School. The superintendent invited further questions and will update the board if partnerships or federal guidance change.
