Valentine updates arts projects: $50,000 grant for Heart City Theater; kiosks, murals and Sculpture Walk expansion planned

Heart City Theater has received a $50,000 grant and is working with a structural engineer to develop options for detailed plans to support future bidding, board members reported at the Aug. 18 meeting.
Separately, the board discussed Creative District activity: certification grant monies are earmarked for kiosks, representatives plan to attend the Creative District event in Norfolk on Sept. 11–12, and a mural project is planned in partnership with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL). Board members also noted that Cozad and Fremont will be added to the Sculpture Walk Across Nebraska initiative.
The board discussed a completed façade grant application for roofing repairs at the Beman Art Gallery. No votes or funding commitments were recorded in the minutes for these arts items.
