Board hears updates on Main Street Theater, arts district grant, loan fund and wayfinding plans

At its April 28, 2025 meeting the City of Valentine Economic Development Board received multiple project updates, including a report that plans for the Main Street Theater have been submitted to the State Fire Marshal and that the Heart City Creative District received a $10,000 certification grant from the Nebraska Arts Council to spend on wayfinding signage kiosks.
Board members were given a Revolving Loan Fund update and told that the VCFC meeting had been canceled in March with the April 25 meeting postponed. Staff also reported a Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund grant extension to April 30, 2025, and said the board would receive an update after a May 8, 2025 meeting with the state Department of Economic Development.
Other brief items included updates on the Sculpture Walk Across Nebraska, a Cherry County Tourism Convention Center project, an Employee Experience Lunch and Learn at MPCC, Scott Scholars, and staff commentary on Heartland Energy’s Growth Incentive program and plans to apply for the Powering Communities Forward grant to fund wayfinding signage in town.
