At its Jan. 20 meeting the Mendota Heights City Council approved Resolution 2026-04 appointing members to city advisory commissions, heard a report summarizing the City’s 2025 volunteer program, and swore in a new police officer.
Assistant City Administrator Kelly Torkelson reviewed the Volunteer Program and thanked volunteers across age groups for their 2025 contributions; Councilor Paper noted it was "great to see kids involved and people of all ages volunteering in the community." Mayor Stephanie Levine thanked volunteers and staff for their work.
Police Captain Wayne Wegener introduced Officer James Walrath, and Mayor Levine completed the swearing-in.
During public comment, Rob Meyer of 1399 Clement St. asked how residents can best time comments to the Council, requested dates for municipal campus community engagement and whether there is a not-to-exceed budget for the project, said he could not locate information on the Criminal Justice Network, and questioned purchase analysis for a golf-course generator.
The Council also approved routine consent items, including authorization of audit services (BerganKDV), legal-services agreements with Campbell Knutson, and Community Development Block Grant application approval (Res. 2026-05). The consent agenda passed unanimously (motion by Councilor Lorberbaum; second by Councilor Mazzitello; Ayes: 5, Nays: 0).
The meeting concluded with community announcements and council remarks; Councilor Paper moved to adjourn and Mayor Levine adjourned the meeting at 9:00 p.m.
