The Mill Creek Community School Corporation board approved renewal of its agreement with Indiana Online Academy (CIESC) to provide virtual coursework to Cascade High School students for the 2026–27 school year.
A district staff member explained the arrangement is an annual, per-course contract in which the district pays CIESC per student seat. "They provide our virtual coursework at Cascade High School," the staff member said. The staff member said the district has worked with the provider for several years and asked the board's permission to continue the partnership.
Board members asked for historical dollar totals because the contract does not specify a flat fee; the presenter said staff can pull historical data and provide it to the board.
The board approved the renewal by voice vote (recorded as 'Carries 3 0'). Staff said the per-course, per-seat payment model means the district pays only for students who enroll in the online classes.
Next steps: staff will provide past spending data on the program at a future meeting.
