Northfield service superintendent outlines parking expansion estimates near Huntington Park

Service Department Superintendent Jason Walters updated the Village of Northfield council Aug. 26 on ongoing public-works activity and preliminary proposals to add parking near Huntington Park. Walters said Phase 1 of the parking project would add about 10 spaces and he estimated a cost of roughly $40,000; Phase 2 would add an additional four to five spaces at an estimated cost of about $30,000. Walters said he is obtaining more detailed plans and quotes and will present that information to council when available.
Walters also reported the Department recently completed a stormwater improvement project in the Lincoln/Sagamore Road area, that crews are performing smaller projects and road patching behind the Plaza, and that the Department is working with police to enforce the updated Unclean Premises ordinance. He added that exterior repairs to Village Hall are now complete.
No formal funding request or appropriation for the parking projects was made at the meeting; Walters presented estimates and said he will return with more detailed information.
