Northfield says it will not bid to provide police services to Northfield Center Township

Mayor Jesse Nehez informed council Aug. 26 that the Village of Northfield told Northfield Center Township it would not submit a bid to provide police services. Nehez said the Village’s police department should concentrate on serving Village residents and visitors rather than taking on additional work at this time. Council members affirmed they agreed with the decision.
Councilmember Gary Vojtush asked whether the same approach would apply to any request for the Village to take over fire and EMS services for the Township; Nehez said it would. Vojtush said he agreed.
