Permits and community events: The Commission unanimously approved the CJSL request (Aimee Madden) to use Peek Park for the annual Arts Festival April 25–27, 2025 and to close College Street for the annual road race. The Commission also unanimously approved Courtney Ripoll (Rivers of Living Water Church) to use the Woman's Building for a church service on Dec. 21, 2024.
Studies and contracts: The Commission approved Pond & Co to complete the Davis Road Feasibility Study on a unanimous vote.
Equipment and capital purchases: The body approved purchase of a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pursuit vehicle for $50,475, with the purchase funded from the school zone camera account. Commissioners also approved L and L Fence & Fabrication to install fencing on Field #3 at Bert Wood Park for $23,160; Polk School District will pay half of that installation fee. The Commission approved purchase of library furniture from CWC Office Furnishings for $348,046.91, contingent on attorney review and the approval of the State Library Board.
Procedural votes: The Commission approved prior meeting minutes (with Commissioner Matt Foster abstaining on the Oct. 7 work session minutes due to absence). The body voted unanimously to enter and later exit executive session for Legal, Real Estate, and Personnel matters before adjourning at 7:30 p.m.
Motions, movers and funding notes: The police vehicle purchase motion was made by Commissioner Sam Branch and seconded by Commissioner Matt Foster; the school zone camera account was listed as the source of funds. The ball field fencing motion was made by Commissioner Dale Tuck, seconded by Commissioner Ryan Casey; Polk School District will be responsible for half the installation cost. The library furniture purchase was approved contingent on attorney review and State Library Board approval.
