The Le Claire Community Library Board of Trustees voted Jan. 13 to approve its proposed fiscal year 2027 budget and to authorize facilities and furniture purchases.
At the meeting, Trustee Jim Earel moved and Trustee Mandy Harvey seconded approval of the FY27 budget "as presented," and trustees voted unanimously to adopt it. The board also discussed a proposed purchase order for installation of vinyl flooring and replacement of office furniture; the board approved contracting Allied to perform the flooring work. Trustees approved Paragon Interiors' proposal to purchase a new staff desk system for $9,447.96, with a motion by Mandy Harvey and seconded by Jim Earel that carried unanimously.
Why it matters: approving the budget and these purchases sets the library's spending plan and allows immediate work on staff-area improvements and furnishings ahead of the coming year.
The board reviewed December budget lines and vendor charges in the meeting packet, including recurring costs such as utilities, Metronet subscriptions, Kanopy and e-book expenditures, copier maintenance, and materials purchases. The packet also showed a $13,306.93 state Open Access/ILL reimbursement recorded in current-month revenue.
What happens next: the library director will coordinate with the city public works department and selected contractors to schedule flooring work and to arrange delivery and installation of the approved desk system. The director said she will present implementation details and any necessary timeline adjustments to trustees as work proceeds.
