The Charter Township of Waterford Board of Trustees unanimously adopted Ordinance 2026‑Z‑005 on April 27, rezoning the parcel at 375 N. Telegraph Road to M‑1, Light Industrial.
Director of Development Services Jeffrey Polkowski described the request: a majority of the parcel was zoned M‑2 (General Industrial) with a 250-foot strip zoned C‑4 (Extensive Business) and a Summit Place overlay. The applicant seeks to rezone the entire parcel to M‑1 (Light Industrial) to permit development of a new-and-used vehicle dealer with outdoor display. Polkowski told trustees the Planning Commission reviewed the application on Feb. 24, 2026 and unanimously forwarded a favorable recommendation. Oakland County planning staff also recommended approval based on the master plan and boundary coordination.
Trustee Gary Wall moved that the board adopt the ordinance, and Trustee Marie E. Hauswirth seconded. By roll-call vote the board adopted Ordinance 2026‑Z‑005; the ordinance states the effective date will be eight days after publication unless a timely referendum petition is filed under the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act (MCL 125.3405).
The ordinance amends the township zoning map for tax parcel number 13-25-200-041 and includes a legal description and certification language to be signed by the township clerk if adopted. Trustees recorded no amendments during the April 27 action.
