HLRB to place Walker Chapel Cemetery walkway amendment on consent agenda

The Historic Landmarks Review Board (HLRB) agreed to place an amendment for a new walkway at Walker Chapel Cemetery on its consent agenda after staff and the applicant clarified design changes.
Jamie, the applicant's representative, told the board the project is an amendment to COA26-06 originally approved in May and that late comments prompted a revision to the path design. "We decided to widen it to 44 inches," Jamie said, explaining an earlier 36-inch width raised questions about whether a casket could be transported on a cart and that an original 5-foot design would have required removing trees.
Committee member Alex Foster said the proposed path is "ADA compliant" and noted the design will use pavers rather than concrete to better match the cemetery setting. Reviewers discussed the mounting and surface details and the need to ensure any new penetrations are properly repaired.
Foster said he saw no concern with placing the amendment on the HLRB consent agenda and that the item will be included for the board's review at the next meeting. If no party requests removal for discussion, the board typically votes on consent items without discussion and issues stamped approval for permit submittal.
The HLRB did not take a formal roll-call vote on the amendment during this session; staff indicated the consent-agenda listing will be finalized ahead of the July 15 HLRB meeting.
