Cedartown Commission unanimously approves conditional uses, equipment purchases and beer license

The Cedartown City Commission on Nov. 12 approved a series of motions including two conditional use permits, multiple procurement items on the consent agenda, a delegate request for community center use and a beer package license for Mainstreet Chevron.
Commissioners voted unanimously to grant the conditional use for 110 W Gibson (parcel #C20-038) to allow a permanent 27-by-30 paint booth at the existing auto body shop. The approval (motion by Commissioner Sam Branch, seconded by Commissioner Ryan Casey) carried with the condition that "all local/state rules and regulations must be adhered to before any permits will be issued." Daniel Avila spoke in favor of the request.
The commission also approved a conditional use for 325 West Avenue (parcel #C12-057) to allow use of the property as a church (motion by Commissioner Dale Tuck, seconded by Commissioner Matt Foster). The approval included a specific condition waiving distance requirement restrictions for alcohol sales.
On the consent agenda, commissioners approved purchasing a Polaris ATV for the Fire Department from Haney Farm & Ranch Supply for $16,472, a compact track loader for Public Works from Ag-Pro for $86,849.90, and acceptance of a proposal to resurface the tennis courts from Signature Tennis Courts for $35,500 with an option to replace three nets for $645. The commission also approved use of the Turner Street Community Center by the Turner Street Community In Delight Exercise Class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7–9 p.m.
The commission approved a beer package license for Lara George to operate at Mainstreet Chevron, 101 N Main Street (motion by Commissioner Ryan Casey, seconded by Commissioner Sam Branch). The record shows all motions passed with 'Aye' votes and no 'No' votes.
