Board hears tobacco‑prevention grant update, Ability Montana introduction and director’s office report

Madison County Public Health used the March 17 quarterly meeting to review ongoing programs and introduce community partners.
Erin Montgomery, Tobacco Education Specialist, provided an update on work funded by the Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program grant. Montgomery highlighted youth coalition efforts aimed at reducing and safely disposing of lithium batteries and noted school-based presentations as a current outreach method; the minutes state no slides were provided.
Hailey Kowalsky introduced Ability Montana and described the nonprofit’s work to increase access and independent-living resources for people with disabilities. Kowalsky showed a short program video and distributed informational cards and brochures to meeting attendees.
A planned Agrability presentation by Dr. Martin Frick was postponed because of a scheduling conflict; the board agreed to table the item until the June meeting when Dr. Frick will be available to present.
Emilie Sayler, Public Health Director, also gave a director’s-office update on staffing, recent projects and upcoming events, calling out communicable disease mitigation efforts, injury-prevention initiatives and continuing-education activities. Slides were provided for the director’s update.
The minutes do not include program budgets, detailed outreach metrics, or timelines for the tabling of Agrability beyond noting the rescheduled June presentation.
