Chairman Louis Caruso said the Township Committee approved updating the municipality’s Open Space and Recreation Plan and told the Open Space Advisory Committee on Feb. 4 that the Land Conservancy submitted a $5,000 proposal to review and update the 2008 plan’s maps, goals and recommendations.
The update could guide the township’s priorities for land preservation and recreation projects, Caruso said during the regularly scheduled meeting, which began at 7:10 p.m. The committee did not take a formal vote on contracting the Land Conservancy at the Feb. 4 meeting; Caruso’s remarks described the Township Committee’s approval to proceed with an update and identified the quoted proposal amount.
The committee handled routine business before discussing the plan. Margaret “Peg” Phillips moved to excuse the two absent members; Stephen Slota seconded and the motion carried with all members present voting in favor. Phillips later moved to approve the reorganization meeting minutes of Jan. 7, 2026; William “Bob” Olivier seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Caruso requested that the committee enter executive session at 7:14 p.m.; Phillips moved and Slota seconded. The committee returned to open public session at 7:32 p.m., after which Phillips moved to close the executive session and Slota seconded; both motions passed with all Ayes.
No public members attended the meeting and there were no public comments. Bob Olivier moved to adjourn at 7:35 p.m.; Phillips seconded and the motion carried. The committee scheduled its next regular meeting for Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
