Green Township Committee approves routine resolutions, including disabled-veteran tax exemption

At its Feb. 2 meeting the Green Township Committee adopted a number of routine but binding resolutions by unanimous roll call votes.
Notable actions included Resolution 2026-54 cancelling property taxes for Block 54, Lot 1 (51 Scenic Drive) after the owner, Christopher Yacout, was granted 100% permanently and totally disabled veteran status effective Dec. 12, 2025; the resolution authorizes a refund of $440.04 for 2025 taxes paid and cancellation of taxes for the 2026 billing for the relevant periods. The Committee also accepted and approved the Bills List (Resolution 2026-55) covering disbursements dated Jan. 15–29, 2026, and authorized public bidding for a license to farm a portion of township-owned property at 93 Airport Road (Resolution 2026-56). The Committee adopted Resolution 2026-57 to authorize an Open Space and Recreation Plan update with The Land Conservancy of New Jersey at a cost not to exceed $5,000.
Each resolution passed by unanimous roll call vote of members present (Phillips, Qarmout, Rose and Mayor Raffay); James DeYoung was recorded absent.
Why it matters: These votes carry concrete fiscal and administrative consequences — tax cancellations, contract procurement and grant-application authority — and record formal municipal actions taken at the meeting.
What’s next: The Clerk and relevant departments will process the tax refund, publish and solicit bids as authorized, and coordinate the Open Space Plan update.
