The Green Township Open Space Advisory Committee completed its reorganizational business Jan. 7, administering oaths of office, electing officers and approving its meeting calendar for 2026.
As recorded in the meeting, oaths of office were administered to Margaret “Peg” Phillips and Stephen Slota under Township Committee Resolution 2026-19, which lists member terms and alternates. Richard (Rich) Conklin moved and William “Bob” Olivier seconded a nomination of Louis (Lou) Caruso as Chairman; no other nominations were made and the motion carried. An oath was administered to Caruso.
Peg Phillips moved and Steve (Stephen) Slota seconded the nomination of Rich Conklin as Vice Chairperson; that motion carried and an oath was administered to Conklin. The committee then approved its 2026 meeting dates (monthly meetings Feb.–June and Oct.–Dec., plus Jan. 6, 2027) and approved the regular and executive session minutes of Dec. 3, 2025.
Votes on procedural items were unanimous among members present; John Lynch was recorded absent and excused after a motion by William "Bob" Olivier, seconded by Stephen Slota. Patty DeClesis is recorded as Open Space Secretary in the meeting minutes. The next Open Space Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
Why it matters: The officers will preside over the committee’s 2026 work plan and agenda-setting, including any reviews of plans or projects brought forward to the Township Committee for funding or project approval.
