Green Township committee approves professional roster and tweaks meeting schedule; Phillips abstains on attorney vote

The Green Township Committee on Jan. 5 approved its 2026 roster of municipal professionals and made several committee and board appointments as part of routine reorganization business.
The committee approved appointments that include Wielkotz & Company, LLC as municipal auditor, Harold E. Pellow & Associates as township engineer, J. Caldwell & Associates as professional planner, Rogut McCarthy LLC as bond counsel, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey as open-space advisor, and Sean Canning of The Canning Group as Qualified Purchasing Agent. Those appointments were adopted under Consent Agenda 2 and Resolution 2026-18, among others.
Mayor Raffay also confirmed mayoral appointments to advisory panels and boards, including the Environmental and Recreation committees and Land Use Board placements; the mayor named Margaret "Peg" Phillips as the Class I member of the Land Use Board and left the Class III committee-member slot to be determined at a later date.
Phillips raised a scheduling conflict related to meetings previously set for Wednesdays when a Monday holiday occurs. The committee agreed to move regular meetings that fall after a Monday holiday to the following Tuesday; Resolution 2026-03 (the 2026 meeting schedule) lists meetings for January through January 2027 and notes the Tuesday adjustments where applicable.
One contested procedural vote occurred on Resolution 2026-14, the township-attorney appointment: the roll-call vote recorded Ayes from DeYoung, Qarmout, Rose and Mayor Raffay and an abstention from Phillips. All other listed professional and board appointments were adopted by unanimous vote.
These appointments and the meeting-schedule change set the township's administrative structure and calendar for 2026.
