County Trails Plan presented to PRC; staff to forward draft to Board of County Commissioners on April 14

Parks and Recreation staff presented a draft Orange County Trails Plan to the Parks and Recreation Council on April 1 and said the county’s Board of County Commissioners will review the draft at its April 14 business meeting.
David Stancil summarized that the draft plan includes background, planning process, stated goals and proposed trail segments. Staff said the plan will be circulated to relevant advisory boards and partner agencies for comment after the BOCC presentation; once comments are collected the plan will return to the PRC for final review and recommendation before the BOCC takes action.
Council members discussed the draft during the meeting and did not take final action; staff identified the next procedural steps and outside review channels that will inform the PRC’s eventual recommendation.
The PRC will continue to review the Trails Plan as it moves through the BOCC and advisory board review schedule.
