Boscawen accepted to UConn summer program; site walk scheduled July 2

Town Administrator Katie Phelps told the Brownfields Advisory Committee on June 29 that Boscawen had applied to and been accepted into the University of Connecticut (UConn) summer program to assess former tannery properties and nearby sites.
Phelps said UConn will evaluate the former Allied Tannery parcels, Hannah Duston island and the town sand pit. A site walk for program staff and committee members is scheduled for July 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Phelps requested that public works clear vegetation at the sites before the walk so the team can safely inspect areas of interest.
Laura Pasquine of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services recommended the town pursue the UConn assessment, and the committee discussed coordinating the survey with the remediation schedule already planned for the Allied Tannery property. No further actions or funding specifics were noted at the meeting.
