Five Mile River Commission approves dredging protocol for docks at 89 and 93 Five Mile River Road

The Five Mile River Commission unanimously approved a protocol for planned dock dredging at 89 and 93 Five Mile River Road during its meeting Thursday in Rowayton.
Chairman Matt Marion called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. at the Rowayton Community Center and the Commission moved to ratify its Dec. 11, 2025 meeting minutes and to approve the dredging protocol. Commissioner Wim Jessup moved to approve, Commissioner John deRegt seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The approved protocol covers the planned dock dredging at the two addresses; the minutes note that the Commission and Harbor Superintendent Garth Griffiths discussed coordination with marine service providers (MSPs) to temporarily relocate moorings during the dredging operation.
The Commission also considered a local business request for commercial moorings but agreed to table that matter pending additional information from the applicant.
Harbor Superintendent Garth Griffiths presented his January 2026 report, which the minutes summarize as including initial responses to the 2026 mooring and slip applications and the updated mooring inspection forms; an updated end-of-2025 mooring map and the distribution of permittees among MSPs; discussions with MSPs about temporary mooring relocations related to the dredging; meetings to coordinate 2026 mooring inspections; and items related to the Commission's 2026 operating budget.
By unanimous vote the Commission then entered executive session to discuss personnel matters for 2026; the minutes state that no votes were taken during the executive session.
With no further business the Commission adjourned at 6:50 p.m. The minutes list the Commission's next scheduled meeting as Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Rowayton Community Center, 33 Highland Avenue, Norwalk.
