Sterling schedules informational meeting on proposed solar field before CT Siting Council decision

Selectman Jack Joslyn said Bryan Fitzgerald of Verogy Solar and company engineers will present an informational PowerPoint about the proposed Sterling solar field on April 9, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the municipal building gym.
The presentation comes as the Connecticut Siting Council has scheduled a decision meeting for Aug. 19, 2026, on the project, Selectman Patricia Massey said. Joslyn acknowledged a CT Siting Council public hearing set for June 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom and said no board action was required on the correspondence notifying the town of those dates.
During the meeting several residents asked for clarifications to how their earlier remarks were summarized in the March 18 minutes. Resident Kim Gunn asked that the minutes reflect she “didn’t mean to come off like she was trying to ‘prevent/delay the Solar Project from moving forward,’” and the board recorded that request as a notation to the April 1 minutes while leaving the March 18 minutes unchanged after review of the Zoom recording.
The board did not take formal action on the solar project at the April 1 meeting; Joslyn and Massey directed residents to the April 9 informational session for more detail and noted the town will follow the CT Siting Council's process.
