Silver Spring Intermediate Principal presented SSI’s building goals (assessment and instruction, social-emotional wellness, PLC routines, and a new care-professional role). The board moved to approve the SSI site plan; the motion was carried.
Mr. Peterson then presented a 100‑day SEL update that included a progressive-discipline guide with clearer behavior categories (classroom-managed, minor, major), posted guidance for families on school websites, and a plan to align board policy with these categories. The presentation noted use of attendance and health data alongside behavioral records and described criteria for entrance to tier 2 and tier 3 supports, family consent steps for interventions, and progress monitoring.
Board members asked about implementation timelines and requested periodic follow-ups; presenters said incremental reviews (weeks to months) will show early trends and that staff would return with progress updates.
